Investigación: Discografía (incompleta) de Barry Rogers

Barry Rogers siempre fue un personaje que me causó interés y curiosidad.

Hace casi ocho años, cuando rememoramos las cuatro décadas de La Perfecta de Eddie Palmieri en nuestro efímera publicación “El Salsero”, dedicamos unas notas a este genio musical, extracto de las cuales publicamos en el desaparecido portal perusalsa.com con el título "El Primer Trombón de la Salsa", los mismos que tiempo después (en el 2004) se publicaron en el portal francés buscasalsa.com *

No es mucho lo que se puede encontrar en Internet sobre Barry. Hace unos años apareció el web www.barryrogersjazz.com, que parece haber quedado trunco.

Uno de los artículos más extensos dedicados a su figura aparece en descarga.com, a cargo de David Carp, mientras que herencia latina.com publicó una remembranza de su funeral realizada por el músico venezolano Alberto Naranjo.

Hoy es 18 de abril y se cumplen 18 años de la partida de este ecléctico, virtuoso y prolífico músico, cuya obra (tal vez por eso mismo) aún no ha sido valorada y reconocida suficientemente.

Por eso en esta fecha, queremos sumar un pequeño aporte en torno a su figura y obra presentando una “discografía incompleta” de Barry Rogers, la misma que recoge sus participaciones en los estudios de grabación de diferentes intérpretes en diferentes géneros.

En ella podremos apreciar que se trató de un músico que alternó en géneros distintos, sin encasillarse en uno solo; a pesar que para los salseros es uno de los principales referentes en cuanto al trombón.

Esperamos que este sea un punto inicial que motive a seguir recordando e investigando la carrera musical de este multifacético ser humano llamado Barry Rogers y que hoy recordamos en La Radio de El Salsero
